Industrial Axial Fan Blades

Industrial Axial Fan Blades — UTEK-DELE Axial Fan Range

An industrial axial fan blade is the part that sets how a fan performs: the blade profile governs noise, the blade count governs the split between airflow and static pressure, and the blade material decides how much heat and what atmosphere the fan can survive.

UTEK-DELE moulds blades in PAG for general heavy-load cooling, in conductive PAGAS where static discharge has to be avoided, and casts them in aluminium ADC12 for high-temperature zones. Blades are supplied individually for replacement work or as complete balanced sets for new fans, in diameters from 180 mm to 2200 mm.

Blades are not interchangeable between duty points: the same diameter with a different blade count produces a different airflow and pressure. That is why a blade is always quoted with the hub family it runs on.

Blade Count and Duty Point

Blade count is the most direct tuning parameter in the range:

  • More blades raise static pressure and suit dense radiator cores and ducted installations

  • Fewer blades favour airflow, reduce blade-passing noise and lower the starting load

  • Blade count is chosen with the hub, because the hub rating limits how much blade mass can be carried

  • Heavy-load duties are reviewed against the temperature and the atmosphere before the material is fixed

Blade Geometry, Sickle Profiles and Noise

Blade profile is what separates a quiet fan from a noisy one at the same duty point. The sickle blade used in the S Series distributes the pressure change along the blade instead of concentrating it at the tip, which lowers blade-passing noise and keeps the airflow smooth. Blade geometry is controlled in production so that a replacement blade matches the original set rather than merely resembling it.

Blade Quality Assurance and Replacement

Blade replacement is the cheapest way to restore a fan whose hub and shaft are still serviceable:

  • The original blade type, count and material are confirmed from the fan records

  • The existing hub family is checked, because the blade root has to match it

  • The new blade set is assembled on the hub and balanced as an impeller before shipment

  • The fan is returned to service with the original airflow and noise level

Where the blades are renewed in the field, keeping the same blade count and material is what preserves the balance condition of the fan.

Blade Applications

Blades from this range are used across engine cooling, process cooling and building ventilation:

  • Engine radiator cooling on tractors, construction machinery and generator sets

  • Cooling towers and industrial heat exchangers

  • Livestock housing and industrial ventilation where noise is regulated

  • High-temperature and explosible-atmosphere duties with conductive blades

Related Propeller and Impeller Pages

Complete balanced assemblies built from these blades are described on the industrial axial fan impellers page, and the air-moving units they are fitted to on the industrial axial fan propellers page. Low-noise blade applications are covered by the S Series sickle blades, high airflow duties by the K Series, and balance records by the balancing machine page.
