4XR Series
The 4XR is a small-diameter axial fan blade in die-cast aluminium ADC12 for high-temperature zones: 180-700 mm, 5 to 12 blades on an H-6 hub with adjustable angle disc.
The 4XR Series is a small-diameter axial fan range with die-cast aluminium blades for high-temperature zones, using 5-12 blades in the 180-700 mm class on an adjustable-angle H-6 hub.
The 4XR Series brings die-cast aluminium blades into the small-diameter class. Five to twelve blades cover 180-700 mm and are mounted on an H-6 hub with an adjustable angle disc, which allows the blade pitch to be set during assembly rather than fixed by the mould.
Aluminium is chosen where the air passing the impeller is hotter than a moulded blade can tolerate. The ADC12 alloy used for these blades is rated from -40 °C to 150 °C with a short-term capability of 300 °C for two hours, which covers fire-resistant ventilation duties and cooling packs that sit close to hot components.
| Model | Blade angle | Blade count | Diameter range | Blade material | Hub | Product page |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4XR | Adjustable (set at assembly) | 5-12 | 180-700 mm | ALU (ADC12) | H-6 with adjustable angle disc | 4XR Series fan |
The adjustable angle disc allows the assembled pitch to be trimmed; because the blades are metal, they are handled as a matched set with the hub.
Blade material is selected from the working temperature and from the atmosphere around the impeller:
| Material | Composition | Temperature range | Typical duty |
|---|---|---|---|
| ALU | Die-cast aluminium ADC12 | -40 °C to 150 °C, short-term 300 °C for 2 h | High-temperature and fire-resistance zones |
Blades are supplied with matched hub sets. The hub carries the blade loads and sets the shaft interface, so it is selected together with the blade count:
| Hub type | Weight | Hub diameter |
|---|---|---|
| HUB H-6 | 0.27 kg / set | 96 mm |
| HUB H-8 | 0.41 kg / set | 133 mm |
| HUB H-10 | 0.57 kg / set | 172 mm |
| HUB H-12 | 0.805 kg / set | 206 mm |
This series is normally specified for the following duties:
High-temperature zones around the engine
Fire-resistant ventilation equipment
Cooling packs close to exhaust or turbo components
Replacement impellers for small metal-blade fans
When a fan is being specified or replaced, the following points are confirmed before a blade set is released. They are the same checks used for OEM programs and for retrofit projects.
Duty point: airflow and static pressure required at the working speed, taken from the cooling pack or ventilation requirement
Installation: available diameter, shroud clearance, mounting pattern and the shaft interface of the existing hub
Environment: maximum air temperature, dust or gas atmosphere, and whether static discharge has to be avoided
Drive: available power, belt or direct drive, and whether the fan has to reverse in service
Service: blade weight for handling during maintenance and spare-part availability across the machine fleet
Blade count, profile and material are then matched to those conditions in a fixed order: material first, then blade count, then hub family, with diameter confirmed against the shroud. Working in that sequence keeps the mechanical interface stable when the duty requirement changes later in the project, and it is why the same blade family can often stay in production while the cooling pack is revised.
Metal blades and hubs are assembled as a matched set and balanced on a hand laser balancing machine before shipment, which matters more with aluminium because blade mass is higher than moulded PAG.
Blade count, blade profile, hub family and material can be customized for OEM programs, and existing fans can be reviewed when airflow, noise or durability has to be improved on a running machine. For compact high-pressure duties the PMAX Series is the closer match; the 4XR Series is selected when temperature, not pressure, is the limiting condition.
