U10W Industrial Fan – High-Static Pressure, Low-Noise Cooling for Heavy-Duty Generators
The U10W is a large adjustable-pitch axial fan blade for 1000-2200 mm fans with 6, 7, 8 or 10 blades on the W-3 hub, in PAG or conductive PAGAS.
The U Series covers the largest diameters, with the U10W impeller running 1000-2200 mm in 6, 7, 8 or 10 blades on a W-3 hub in PAG or PAGAS material.
The U Series is the top of the UTEK-DELE diameter range: a single large impeller, the U10W, covering 1000-2200 mm with six, seven, eight or ten blades on a W-3 hub. It is built for generator cooling packages, cooling towers and large industrial ventilation where the fan diameter is set by the air volume rather than by installation space.
Blade count is the main tuning parameter at this size. Fewer blades favour airflow and lower blade-passing noise, while a higher count raises pressure across a dense heat exchanger or a long duct run, and the same W-3 hub carries all four variants.
| Model | Blade angle | Blade count | Diameter range | Blade materials | Hub | Product page |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| U10W | Adjustable | 6 / 7 / 8 / 10 | 1000-2200 mm | PAG / PAGAS | W-3 | U10W large axial fan |
The impeller is used in generator set cooling packages and in cooling towers, where the fan runs continuously at moderate speed.
Blade material is selected from the working temperature and from the atmosphere around the impeller:
| Material | Composition | Temperature range | Typical duty |
|---|---|---|---|
| PAG | PA6 with 30% glass fibre | -40 °C to 110 °C | Heavy-load cooling, anti-aging, general engine cooling |
| PAGAS | PA6 with 15% carbon fibre and 15% glass fibre (conductive) | -30 °C to 100 °C | Dust and gas atmospheres where static discharge must be avoided |
The conductive PAGAS option is supplied for equipment working in explosive-risk atmospheres such as dust or gas. It addresses the working environment of the blade; machine-level certification remains the responsibility of the equipment builder.
Blades are supplied with matched hub sets. The hub carries the blade loads and sets the shaft interface, so it is selected together with the blade count:
| Hub type | Weight | Hub diameter |
|---|---|---|
| HUB W-3 | 2 kg / set | 200 mm |
| HUB W-7 | 4.76 kg / set | 328 mm |
| HUB W-8 | 6.38 kg / set | 390 mm |
| HUB W-10 | 8.76 kg / set | 480 mm |
This series is normally specified for the following duties:
Generator set cooling packages
Cooling towers and large heat exchangers
Large industrial ventilation systems
Replacement impellers for very large fans
When a fan is being specified or replaced, the following points are confirmed before a blade set is released. They are the same checks used for OEM programs and for retrofit projects.
Duty point: airflow and static pressure required at the working speed, taken from the cooling pack or ventilation requirement
Installation: available diameter, shroud clearance, mounting pattern and the shaft interface of the existing hub
Environment: maximum air temperature, dust or gas atmosphere, and whether static discharge has to be avoided
Drive: available power, belt or direct drive, and whether the fan has to reverse in service
Service: blade weight for handling during maintenance and spare-part availability across the machine fleet
Blade count, profile and material are then matched to those conditions in a fixed order: material first, then blade count, then hub family, with diameter confirmed against the shroud. Working in that sequence keeps the mechanical interface stable when the duty requirement changes later in the project, and it is why the same blade family can often stay in production while the cooling pack is revised.
Large impellers are assembled as a matched blade and hub set and balanced on a hand laser balancing machine before shipment, since imbalance grows with diameter and blade mass.
Blade count, blade profile, hub family and material can be customized for OEM programs, and existing fans can be reviewed when airflow, noise or durability has to be improved on a running machine. Below 1000 mm the W Series offers the same adjustable-pitch concept in a wider choice of models and hub options.
