1Z Adjustable Pitch Axial Fan Blade | UTEK-DELE
The 1Z is an adjustable-pitch axial fan blade covering 378-725 mm with 5 to 16 blades on the Z-3 hub, in PAG or conductive PAGAS.
Medium axial fan blades cover the 500-1100 mm class across five series, from low-noise sickle blades to high pressure adjustable blades for cooling towers, heat exchangers and HVAC equipment.
The medium class carries most industrial cooling duty. Blade diameters between roughly 500 mm and 1100 mm are large enough to move serious air volume, while the impeller still fits inside a standard fan ring and stays light enough for belt or direct drive.
Five series cover this band: the P Series for adjustable-pitch pressure duty, the low-noise sickle-blade S Series, the widely used 7Z, the K Series for high airflow in narrow installation spaces, and the R4Z bi-directional aluminium blade. All of them share the Z hub family, so the shaft interface is consistent across a plant even when the blade type changes.
| Series | Blade type | Blade count | Diameter range | Blade materials | Hub family | Product page |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| P Series | Adjustable | 1-16 | 250-1343 mm | PAG / PAGAS / ALU | Z-3 to Z-18 | P Series axial fans |
| S Series | Adjustable sickle blade | 3-16 | 250-1040 mm | PAG / PAGAS / ALU | Z-3 | S Series sickle blades |
| 7Z Series | Adjustable | 5-16 | 560-922 mm | PAG / PAGAS / ALU | Z-3 / Z-5 / Z-7 | 7Z Series fans |
| K Series | Adjustable | 3-16 | 180-1254 mm | PAG / PAGAS | Z-3 | K Series big airflow fans |
| R4Z Series | Bi-directional (motor rotation) | Quoted per project | 299-1011 mm | ALU (ADC12) | Z-3 | R4Z Series overview |
Blade count is the main tuning parameter in this class: higher counts raise static pressure, lower counts favour airflow and reduce blade-passing noise.
Blade material is selected from the working temperature and from the atmosphere around the impeller:
| Material | Composition | Temperature range | Typical duty |
|---|---|---|---|
| PAG | PA6 with 30% glass fibre | -40 °C to 110 °C | Heavy-load cooling, anti-aging, general engine cooling |
| PAGAS | PA6 with 15% carbon fibre and 15% glass fibre (conductive) | -30 °C to 100 °C | Dust and gas atmospheres where static discharge must be avoided |
| ALU | Die-cast aluminium ADC12 | -40 °C to 150 °C, short-term 300 °C for 2 h | High-temperature and fire-resistance zones |
The conductive PAGAS option is supplied for equipment working in explosive-risk atmospheres such as dust or gas. It addresses the working environment of the blade; machine-level certification remains the responsibility of the equipment builder.
Blades are supplied with matched hub sets. The hub carries the blade loads and sets the shaft interface, so it is selected together with the blade count:
| Hub type | Weight | Hub diameter |
|---|---|---|
| HUB Z-3 | 0.74 kg / set | 190 mm |
| HUB Z-5 | 0.86 kg / set | 157 mm |
| HUB Z-7 | 0.86 kg / set | 194 mm |
| HUB Z-12 | 2.045 kg / set | 285 mm |
| HUB Z-16 | 3.64 kg / set | 385 mm |
This series is normally specified for the following duties:
Cooling towers and industrial heat exchangers
Low-noise ventilation where blade-passing noise is regulated
HVAC, compressors and engine-driven equipment
Dust and gas atmospheres where conductive blades are specified
When a fan is being specified or replaced, the following points are confirmed before a blade set is released. They are the same checks used for OEM programs and for retrofit projects.
Duty point: airflow and static pressure required at the working speed, taken from the cooling pack or ventilation requirement
Installation: available diameter, shroud clearance, mounting pattern and the shaft interface of the existing hub
Environment: maximum air temperature, dust or gas atmosphere, and whether static discharge has to be avoided
Drive: available power, belt or direct drive, and whether the fan has to reverse in service
Service: blade weight for handling during maintenance and spare-part availability across the machine fleet
Blade count, profile and material are then matched to those conditions in a fixed order: material first, then blade count, then hub family, with diameter confirmed against the shroud. Working in that sequence keeps the mechanical interface stable when the duty requirement changes later in the project, and it is why the same blade family can often stay in production while the cooling pack is revised.
Medium impellers are supplied as matched blade and hub sets and balanced on a hand laser balancing machine before shipment. The explosion-proof blade design used for conductive duty is covered by a granted Chinese utility model patent (CN 222315403 U).
Blade count, blade profile, hub family and material can be customized for OEM programs, and existing fans can be reviewed when airflow, noise or durability has to be improved on a running machine. Below this class the small H, PMAX and 4XR blades are used, and above it the large W and U series take over from 1000 mm to 2200 mm.
